In the middle of the Neman River, at Tilsit, Prussia, on July 7, 1807, Napoleon met Tsar Alexander I to sign a treaty of short-lived alliance. Tilsit has been Russian since 1945. Now in Kaliningrad oblast, the city name is Sovetsk.
