As the broadcast was under way, the news was announced in Kiev that Zelensky had sent police and secret service agents to search a house belonging to his longtime financier and leading Ukrainian oligarch, Igor Kolomoisky, and to humiliate Kolomoisky publicly in front of the cameras. The interpretation in Moscow of this show is that it has been ordered by US Government officials as a demonstration to the US Congress and NATO allies that Zelensky can be preserved in a non-corrupt state apparatus – and that the demonstration is fake.

The Druzhba oil pipeline attack by long-range Ukrainian artillery on February 1 struck a pumping terminal which was not in current operation, Transneft, the Russian pipeline company, has announced. The damage assessment so far indicates no casualties, minimal site damage, and no cut of oil flows to Hungary.
